M-AGENT™ SMS SYSTEM
The M-Agent SMS System is a Short Messaging Service (SMS) gateway that is connected to the local GSM telcos. This enables our customers to do ‘anytime, anywhere’ transactions and activities via our Premium SMS and Bulk SMS services. For example, some organizations and companies are using our Bulk SMS services to send out notifications and/or reminders on upcoming events. Others are using our Premium SMS as a means to send out information that is specifically requested by a user (information on demand / IOD). Some others are using our Premium SMS to send digital media / content to their subscribers (content-based info on demand: subscription / content based IODS).

What is the difference? In a nutshell, Bulk SMS is a one-way, free to receive message. The charges are borne by the sender, much like the peer to peer SMS we send to one-another from our mobile phone, but on a much larger scale. On the other hand, Premium SMS is a 2-way messaging system, which allows messages to be sent and received. Premium SMS can be set to charge the recipient’s phone bill or deduct the recipient’s prepaid balance. The charges are for most business models are indeed borne by the recipient.

(Note: as per local rules and regulations on mobile content, Content Providers / Aggregators CAN NOT send chargeable messages to mobile users unless it was specifically requested: i.e sending: ‘on <keyword>’ to a shortcode will activate your subscription to whatever service related to the . (You can also stop these services on each shortcode by simply sending ‘stop all’ as a reply).

BULK SMS
Bulk SMS is generally used to send out mass broadcasts, individual alerts and notifications, and others. For example, it is a good tool to be used when an organization would like to inform certain segments, or all of its employees on the up-coming road show, or other activities. For some networks, that organisation can even set its own identity as the Sender-ID (i.e SMS from: Example PLC).
PREMIUM SMS
Premium SMS is generally used as a tool to enable mobile transactions. As messages can also be received, this allows specific information to be delivered to specific people. SMS requests for information, SMS voting, SMS based transactions are all examples of Premium SMS services. Users will need to send or request this info via SMS to/from a shortcode.
Ionnex’s Role as a Technology Enabler / Content Aggregator via it’s M-Agent™ SMS System / General Disclaimer on Spamming
It has been brought to our attention that our shortcodes have been involved in some spamming cases recently. This is most probably the work of some of our content providers, who do promos using SMS. Rest assured, it’s free to receive. Anyway, if you feel such messages are improper, please forward / email the exact SMS text to us, and we will take the necessary action.

Our services are engaged by other parties to send out information, digital media, and other such content. In this sense, Ionnex is a Technology Enabler / Content Aggregator that provides the means for our customers to engage in mobile messaging at cost effective prices.

What is a Technology Enabler?
A technology enabler is an organization that possesses the technology and know-how to help other organizations that do not possess specific technical competencies to support their business processes. In this sense, Ionnex is employed to provide the necessary services that can enable any organization to make use of SMS and other messaging technologies as a tool to help carry out their business functions.

For example, a company’s products and services may be a combination of certain computer and web systems (hardware and software), processes and procedures that as a whole creates value for its customers. Though the processes and procedures are normally owned and designed by the company, the system(s) might be provided by a separate vendor.

What is a Content Aggregator?
In a more specific perspective, Ionnex provides mobile messaging / SMS gateways (that are connected to the local GSM providers) as a service to customers to send out and receive SMS to and from their users. Ionnex has the required MCMC ASP (Class) license, and has duly signed agreements with the local GSM providers as required by the local regulatory bodies. Having said this, a very large percentage of messages and content that goes through Ionnex’s gateways are not owned or originated from Ionnex. Unlike other content aggregators, Ionnex does not engage in selling content as a business, thus does not compete with its customers.
